Long-Term and Invisible Illness
Being ill is hard enough, but having an illness that nobody else can see presents extra challenges. You might find yourself reminding the people in your life repeatedly of your needs - for frequent gentle movement, a warm environment, soft seating, regular snacks, low light, the emotional permission to be irritable, teary, or withdrawn without having to worry that you're damaging your relationships, or whatever else you might need - only for them to forget.
I'm lucky enough to be in robust health, but have a running theme in my life involving people with invisible illnesses, including my mother and my partner. Because of this, I developed a baseline of awareness of the extra needs another person might have.
Session Details
I am happy to be flexible about where and how we meet. If you'd prefer to avoid stairs or need low light, we can work at my Clifton office, or if you'd prefer to walk as we work, we can do walk-and-talk sessions. If you need to stay at home some or all of our sessions, we can work online. I'm also happy to negotiate extra leeway for you to cancel at short notice, so your condition doesn't cost you "invisible illness tax".
Send me a message if you'd like to have an initial chat before arranging your first session.
