Body Doubling - An Introduction
One of the most common things people with ADHD experience is the need to have somebody else around doing chores, so that they can do chores too. This is called “body doubling”, and can either mean that you work great as part of a team, or you feel dependant on somebody else to be able to work.
This can be a problem if you work in a small team and everyone else in your team is part-time or work from home for part of the week, or if you work from home.
The need to body-double can also make things difficult if you're trying to get your housework done.
That's where social media can come in helpful! This post is about introducing you to two 'professional body doublers', who you can follow along with, to help you get your work done.
Rich and Rox, and the Dubbii App
Rox and her husband Rich founded the Dubbii app to offer a body doubling service to anyone who needs it. I'll let them show you how it works in this Instagram reel.
If you'd like to try it, download Dubbii from your app store of choice. It's free!
ADHD Actually, and Bodydoubling
ADHD Actually is run by an ADHD woman, for people with ADHD – whether they're diagnosed or not.
To sign up, visit her web site, ADHDActually.com. She offers a 7 day free trial, after which there's a cost – at the time of writing, that's $14 per month (which comes out at around £10.50). For that, you get to choose a date and time to do your body doubling. The sessions are held on Zoom.
Her Instagram accounts can be found at ADHDActually and Bodydoubling.
Or, If You're Not Ready to Dive In Yet...
